#OwnYourBodBabe on May 13

I am participating in this years #OwnYourBod on May 13th and I want you to join me. There is something that has been irking me since my birthday and today I’m going to tell you what and why?

So, on your Birthday Facebook lets your social media know it’s your big day and people comment, post pictures, videos. It’s awesome you feel celebrated and loved. Well, I try to give people the same respect as they give me and respond to each and every comment I receive. (I know crazy) Anyways, I read every comment.

Well, my last birthday there was a comment that hit me in the gut.  Now, maybe I was taking it wrong but it went a little something like this:

“Happy Birthday to someone who has worked so hard to make their body look good!”

Did you feel the blow to the throat?

The greater hurt was that I see this person every Sunday when I go to Church. Alright, now you are feeling me?

My Intended Message

In the last four years, it has never been my intention to promote a perfect body. I have admitted that I am vain and that my weight loss journey began because I wanted to get skinny. But, that changed during the process and it became an authentic passion to help other people honor their temple and transition into a healthy lifestyle.

The results of moving your body and fueling it properly is that not only you look good but you feel good. That is what I have worked so hard on is showing others that a healthy lifestyle is possible and the results are that I look good.

I also have become more confident and aware of who I am and proud of the achievement that I have made and my goal is no longer to be skinny but I really wouldn’t mind being the strongest woman in the world.

Owning my Body

So, today I chose to Own this strong body and say, “Yes, I look good and I have worked hard.” If that inspires someone to respect their body and treat it the way God intended then I’ll take that throat punch of others passive aggressive opinion.  I am on a mission to serve others by helping them find and live a healthier lifestyle. Earlier this month, a Facebook Memory popped up that I did a year ago with ReadersDigest.com. Sharing the message that EVERYbody is a bikini body.

We really need to stop comparing ourselves to filters and being the best of who we can be.  Again, I am being bold and stepping up I am also joining an inspiring Influencer that I met last year at the life-changing Well Summit.  I have grown so much from the things I learned at the Well Summit as well as the connections that I made. #OwnYourBodBabe Vision

Amanda invited me to share this message today.  Amanda shared the vision also came from her own vain reasons:

“I started #OwnYourBodBabe because simply put, I wanted to wear a shirt that was cropped. Pretty superficial, right? But as I started coming to terms with the ingrained yuck surrounding my own self-image, I began to realize that this sh!t was going to take some work. I plan to talk about the hard work it takes to really commit to self-love/appreciation/acceptance and some days just dealing with the funk.”

“OwnYourBodBabe intent is to open up a conversation “ to encourage ourselves and others to appreciate and love our bodies, not to be dragged down by ugly societal pressures and the urge to try to be something we are not.”

Share the Message

Today on Facebook, Twitter and specifically Instagram join us in by following the hashtag  #OwnYourBodBabe and be inspired and encouraged by other women to love your body. Then other people’s opinion won’t matter.  Now if you aren’t comfortable posting which is understandable there is another way that you can participate. Amanda created these questions for you to take some time today to ask yourself:

  • “Why do I give myself a hard time?”
  • “What causes me to feel self-conscious?”
  • “Why do I hate my ‘insert perceived flaw here’?”

Answering these questions can help you to start discovering and appreciating your body for how amazing it is versus your physical appearance.  That is the beginning of transformation and that is exactly what I have worked so hard for and hope I impress on others to achieve.

Dry Brushing for Self-care

Have you noticed the new movement of Self-care?  I didn’t realize the impact of this trend until I attended a Charity Event for the What about our Daughters a few weeks ago. It was a Kid’s Konference, and it was an excellent opportunity for K-8 Children to learn about Wellness.  In one of the workshops for the older girls, they created Vision Boards and the presenter shared with the group of tween girls the importance of self-care.

At first, I thought “they’re children why do they need self-care?  But let’s face it. Children aren’t the same children that we were growing up.  They have more roles, responsibilities, the bar is much higher, and we are creating a generation of anxious children.  We had to cut back on the extracurriculars, school clubs and friend dates for my daughter. She was overscheduled, stimulated and beginning to show high anxiety.  Taking time to step back from this busy world and fill yourself is essential at any age.

What is the definition of self-care?

Self-care on Social Media from my perspective looks like bubble baths, hair trips and getting your nails done.  Some may throw in a massage (raises hands), but self-care doesn’t have to cost any money. We can rest and restore ourselves daily and take precautions and set up boundaries, so we don’t fall into anxiety.

According to the Oxford dictionary: “Self-care is The practice of taking action to preserve or improve one’s own health. Or, The practice of taking an active role in protecting one’s own well-being and happiness, in particular during periods of stress.”

There are some obvious ways we can care for ourselves daily.

1. Eat whole foods.

I had a guest blogger Dr. Angela Clack share the importance of food and anxiety.  What we eat has everything to do with how we feel. Making better food choices can help our physical and mental health.

2. Drink more water.

I think I can include hydration in everything that involves our well-being. Being hydrated reduces stress on our body and is a  simple way to self-care.

3. Get moving.

Exercise, of course, is another way to help improve your mood, health, and care for yourself.  It does not have to be in the gym. Do you like to dance? Do it? I always tell people to do what you loved to do when you were a kid. If you loved softball guess what there is an adult league somewhere. You like to roller skate.  Go to your local skating rink? You’d be surprised how good it feels to just kick a soccer ball around at a park as you used too even if you don’t perform as you used also.

4. Connect with God.

Self-care is biblical. There are so many ways that you can connect with God. There’s studies, devotions, and the Bible a fingertip away.  Taking 5-15 minutes out of your day to pray, devote or praise can do wonders for your Spiritual, Physical and mental endurance.

Most people are searching for peace outside of themselves at one point in time I was seeking those things too. I looked to the Universe for so many years and to find out it was God the entire time.  It wasn’t until I sought God and He met me where I was done I find the peace I was craving.

5. Disconnect.

This is probably the most valuable and free self-care tip.  Disconnect and just live life for a day. I think a lot of the outside pressure we place on ourselves is because we are constantly outsiders looking into a filtered perspective we see on Social Media. When’s the last time you spent a day offline.  Social media will continue to go on without you and sorry no one will notice that you left when you spend the day present and not wishing and hoping. It’s a great way to give your brain a break. You may even need two or a few days.

6. Take 30 minutes to “Do you!”

Don’t just get physical! Get artsy, pick up an instrument, paint, draw for me sew! The more children I had the less I did the things I used to truly enjoy. I love to sew but when my middle was too busy tearing down curtains. I had to put my sewing machine away.  It’s collected dust. Last year, I reconstructed a dress for a wedding I attended. I cannot tell you how good it felt to sew again. I also love to garden and try to do that in the Spring in summer as my thing. Nothing like pulling weeds to soothe your anxieties. Doing things that I like to do is how I like to self-care.  In our Bible and Bootcamps, “Do you!” challenge. I have watched women paint beautiful pictures, write amazing poems and express themselves creatively.  It was powerful for some to take that time for themselves.

7. Body Care.

The best thing from my ankle injury was by incorporating regular massages in my wellness routine. I am a bi-weekly regular at Cloud 9 Wellness. I never realized how my tight muscles was affecting different aspects of my body.  Recently, I discovered dry brushing! It’s something that I now do at home on my own several times a week; even daily. I have felt and seen some amazing results.

What is dry brushing?

Dry brushing is kind of like what it sounds like, you use a firm (not hard) bristle brush and exfoliate your skim. It is suggested in a circular motion making the brush strokes towards your heart.  It is a long standing practice that has been said, to “Stimulate your circulation and promote lymphatic drainage. I looked for hours to find medical research on whether or not it eliminates body toxins but there weren’t much research studies on dry brushing.  Through personal experience. I love the way my skin feels after dry brushing, it’s tingly and definitely feels “stimulated.”  I have been doing it before showering and it feels amazing. My skin has especially on my legs have visibly improved.

Prana Brush Ionic Body Brush

I have been using the Prana-brush Ionic Body Brush which is made with extra-fine ion-charged cooper bristles.  The bristles ionic charge are to create negative ions that protect your body from free radicals. This brush has unique bristles that encourage immediate absorption of negatives ions in your skin.

How do you use a dry brush?

Again, you brush your skin while dry without any cleansers, soaps and oils (including essential oils).  Its recommend showering after dry brushing to get off all the exfoliated skin.  Then apply moisturizer, lotions or oils.  It’s very simple and it takes less than five minutes to dry brush your body. There have been other benefits associated with dry brushing.  It is been suggested to relieve Eczema, decrease the looks of Stretch Marks, give your body Ionic Balance, some people have felt improved digestion, and cellulite appearance.

Does it work?

In more than one way.  If you are getting it for dry winter skin, you will be surprised to see your skins texture and look change over time.  Relatively quickly. I tested one leg over the other and look at the noticeable difference. Dry brushing helps increase the blood flow in your leg but doesn’t deplete your skin of moisture.  It’s also best to follow with a shower and moisturizer.

What kind of dry brush should I use?

If you’re like me, I get overwhelmed with too many options and you can find a lot for dry brushes.  There are a few things that you want to ensure when choosing a dry brush. Make sure to use a natural stiff-bristled dry brush.  Some bristles are stiffer than others, like almost too firm. I love the Prana Brush it is so soft on your skin. It also includes extra fine soft copper bristles.  Doesn’t feel abrasive. It also is and Ionic Bristle brushes offering negative ions to help balance your body.

How do I dry brush?

It’s simple. Always brush on dry skin using a natural bristled brush. Start from the bottom and work your way up. Begin at your feet/ankles and work my way upward in long fluid strokes on limbs and circular motions on torso and back. Make sure you strokes are upwards towards your heart. Be careful on sensitive skin like your stomach, breasts and neck, (for obvious reason) you may want to put lighter pressure in these areas.  Also, use good judgment and don’t brush over broken skin; it will only irritate and not improve your skin. From my research, you can dry brush daily to several times a week. Prana Brush recommends daily before you shower as part of your routine. It should only take you 3-5 minutes to dry brush your entire body.

When should I dry brush?

The best time to dry brush is just before a shower. Then you can wash off any dead skin cells and flaky skin. Be sure to apply lotion afterward to put moisture back into your skin. Then shower and apply moisture.

Self-care is important and one of those things that you should prioritize in your life.  I want you all to experience daily amazing showers so I have I partnered with Prana Brush to review and giveaway a Prana Brush copper brush to one of my FaithFueled Life Beauties! Vegan Family Classics with Barilla Chickpea Pasta

Reminiscing over a bowl of Pasta

As my daughters’ approaches fifteen I have been reminiscing. When looking back, we always associate memories with food. There are two meals that I think I will forever treasure. Every time I make these meals. It takes me back to a time before three kids. When I was a new mom to this new little girl and full of hope, fear, and love. It’s funny how vividly you remember your first. I can honestly say that I may not recall as detailed with my other two daughters. I guess you always remember your first time.

Meals that come with Memories

I remember coming home from the hospital eager to introduce our new baby girl to her nursery.  As I walked in the door. My mother was in the kitchen making one of my childhood favorite meals.  Beef Stroganoff wafting in my nose as I began the daunting new life with this new child.  I cannot explain the gratitude to coming home to that meal.  I no longer associate it with childhood memories of my siblings, and I seated around the table for that yummy pasta dinner. Now its a fond memory of the beginning of motherhood.

Vegan “Beef” Stroganoff

My “Beef” Stroganoff is nothing like my mom’s. It’s now a dairy-free & meat free adaptation of my childhood favorite.  I also have found out that I am allergic to wheat within the last three years. So, other than the name,  Everything in my “Beef” Stroganoff recipe is different.

Some may say it’s a healthier version, but I don’t skimp out on the taste.  Gluten Free pasta has come a long way. My family has always used Barilla Pasta. It’s one of th4 best pastas cooking to al dente perfect in 7-9 minutes and it tastes good every time.

I find with other gluten-free pasta their either have too much rice making them mushy or overcooked. They also may have too much corn making leftovers a gritty mess.  Barilla gluten free pasta has always been my favorite until I found their Barilla Chickpea Pasta .

Tasty Gluten Free Pasta

Then I came across a new find! Have you heard of Barilla Chick Pea Pasta?  I was skeptical at first until I tried the Barilla Chickpea Gluten free pasta! It’s perfect! Not mushy and hello it is packed with protein.  Adding extra protein boost and fiber to my diet was a second benefit.  I usually get Barilla Gluten Free pasta and saw the new box in the aisle. Fiber and plant-based protein is an excellent addition to your meal.  I love that there is one ingredient nothing is enriched; It’s merely chickpea flour.

“Sausage” Pesto Pasta

Another dish that reminds me of my oldest daughter is Sausage Pesto Pasta. It’s an effortless very delicious meal that I found years ago.  I love to make it for New Mom’s families because it’s easy and tastes like love. At least that’s what I have been told. Anytime I ask my family, “What do you want for dinner?” Kyhia always requests Sausage Pesto Pasta, and it’s never rejected by other family members. I can safely say it’s one of her favorites.  This dish is easily switched from dairy-free to dairy with a swap of two ingredients.

“Sausage” Pesto Pasta Recipe

  • 10 oz. Gosh! Vegan Sausage

  • 8 oz Package Earth Grown Mozzarella Shreds
  • 5 oz. bag of Spinach

  • 2 cloves garlic.minced

  3.  Add Warm Barilla Chick Pea Pasta and Mix.
  4. Add Don Lee Farms Sausage and Mozzarella Shreds
  5. Bake at 375 degrees for 15-20 minutes until shreds are melted.
  6. Enjoy the deliciousness.

Food Sensitivities and Allergies

As Kyhia is getting older, we realize that like her Mama she has food sensitivities. It’s nice to have a Gluten Free, Lactose-Free Pasta to make her favorite meal.  There are so many dairy substitutes that will never taste like dairy products but are similar enough alternative.

According to the American Nutrition Association,” 70,000,000 people every day suffer from some form of digestive issues.” Growing up I never had food allergies.  It wasn’t until I was in my teens I had mild reactions to certain foods when tested like wheat and peas.

After I had my second daughter things changed.  I began having stomach aches & migraine headaches almost immediately after I ate.  It would also cause extreme gas and bloating.  When it came to the point where I didn’t want to eat  because it was so painful. I decided to go to the Doctor to see what was wrong.

I had the blood test done testing for Celiacs Sprux, Bacterium and H.pylori.  All came back negative, but that didn’t make stomach pains go away.  We did an elimination diet eliminating dairy first which relieved some of the pain, but I still would continuously have an itchy throat, always clearing my throat, migraines, running or clogged nose.  Never associating it with the things I was eating.  I also was trying to eat healthily and was eating whole wheat.

After continued issues I finally got an allergy test. Through testing I discovered that my healthy choices were causing me what seemed like indoor/outdoor allergy symptoms and digestive issues. My allergy test concluded that I was allergic to certain strains of pollen that can be found in wheat, legumes, and citrus fruits like pineapple.  Little did I know that the daily allergy suffering that I thought was from outdoor/indoor pollen were actually from wheat found in the food, skincare, and other products.

Alternatives to Family Classics

Much like myself, my daughter is sensitive to dairy but has no food allergies but a few sensitivities. We still eat gluten-free in my home because it’s easier than making two meals and cross contamination. Often I make a dairy-free alternative when it comes to dinner. Barilla pasta has always been a family favorite and has been able to transition with my family and as we discover options to your traditional pasta like Barilla ChickPea Pasta.  Things have changed on the dinner plate, but when you have the right ingredients, the food will taste good no matter if it is gluten or not.

My Kyhia will be leaving me soon, and I know this won’t be in the dinner rotation as often.  I will savor these yummy meal time request. You have to try the Sausage Pesto Pasta. Tell me what you think? You’re welcome in advance.

Do you have a meal that brings back memories?

Reasons why I have Fit Mom Guilt

I know it’s probably not just me. Before I was a Mom, I seldom felt guilty for my actions or reflective on my behavior. Since becoming a Mom, anything and everything I do causes me guilt. I am not sure why I hold myself to a higher standard than I do other Mom’s, but I am always questioning my motherhood skills.  From the moment I wake up until the moment I go to bed. I am thinking the who, what, when, why and how that involves my three daughters’ day.

The majority of my day is making sure that their needs are met; physically, socially and academically.  I am constantly outnumbered.  I have found solace in the gym to help me get through the day.  Even though I know my gym time does not affect them because I am usually at the gym while they sleep. I feel guilty about not being there if they wake up. Crazy right? I have a whole list of my crazy guilt for being a fit mom.

There are so many things that make me feel guilty about living a healthier lifestyle.  It seems odd, but you have to admit that eating healthy, exercising regularly and taking care of your body is not the norm. So, for those who choose to live that life, it may be hard when everyone around them is not. Sometimes I feel guilty that I have made it a priority to honor my temple.  I always feel the need to explain my choices. Good and bad!

So, I am putting them out there all the things that I feel guilty about living this healthy lifestyle and being a Mom of three daughters. I am sure there are others who feel the same.

1. Spending time away to exercise.

This has always been a guilt trigger for me until we joined our new gym.  I would either work out very late at night after the girls went to bed or now very early before they rise so that I won’t miss time with them to go to the gym.  For my older daughters, this is important because they have extracurricular activities, friends and commitments. Not only is it nearly impossible once they wake up to find time to go to the gym. We spend a lot of time in the car going here and there. Until our new gym, I had to get up at the crack of dawn or in the late night.

Since a new gym opened up in my area that has a Kid’s gym included. As long as I can make time during there hours. I can go to the gym while they are awake.  They enjoy their time, and they are active while I sweat it out too.  It’s a great way to eliminate my guilt of spending time away to exercise.

2. Eating healthier versions of dinner.

I have tried intentionally always to eat the same or a version of dinner. I have guilt that my girls will remember me eating out of pre-prepped containers. Sometimes I have to eat differently because of my food allergies and sensitivities. I also feel guilty when we eat out, and I have to make a special request because of my food issues. Regardless, if I were fit mom or not I would have to order differently, but I still feel guilty. The only difference in my meals is usually because of my food allergies and sensitivities. Although created differently I try to make a dairy free, gluten free version of the same thing. Mostly, I make one meal and we eat together because of my fit mom guilt.

3. Eliminating or restricting foods that used to be permitted.

I have recently, become a sugar cop.  This year I have become convicted to remove sugar from my home. My revolt against sugar does not stem from me being a Fit Mom.  My decision to get rid of sugar in my house is because of the adverse effects of sugar. My family has a significant sugar dependency including myself.

Sugar is tough to avoid especially when your kids are in public school.  I find there are ways to get your sweets without sugar.  I am trying to make that change in my home. I have guilt because although I know, it’s for my families health. Would it be a concern if I wasn’t a fit mom? Those are some of the things that I struggle with when making decisions for my family.

4. Looking like a Fitness Model and trying to be a role model.

When I began my fitness journey, I admired women who looked like I do now but never thought that would be me.  Although, I look like a fitness model in a tank top. When I was up every day, I am a Mom to three very impressionable girls. I don’t walk around flexing or taking belfies in my full-length mirror in my Sports Bra because it’s not about that.  The way I look on the outside is because of what I do and put in my inside. I don’t ever want my daughters to strive to look a certain way to reflect a particular image. So, I have guilt for the way that I look although, it’s just a result of my lifestyle change.

5. Prioritizing health over idle time.

I have high anxiety, and when idle I find I get anxious  I like to exercise to get rid of extra energy as well as Workout and Worship.  I seldom have idle time now that my girls are older. In the past, I would fill my idle time with snacks and tv time. Now I fill that time with movement and doing things with my children.

I do feel guilty that we are always active. I need to practice balance give us time to sit idle as well as move.  Although I am showing my girls alternatives to mindless behavior. I feel we all could use a good tv show binge from time to time.  I am trying not to feel so guilty and to start practicing and showing balance.

6. Setting a Standard of good health

Because I am a Fitness Professional, I feel obligated to walk the walk.  I know as a Mom this may be setting a very high standard for good health. I don’t want my daughters to feel that they need to workout 5 to 6 times a week, but I do want them to be active at least 150 minutes a week.  I have guilt on what they see that I don’t realize. They are creating their standards, and I am giving them the example. Ultimately, I want my girls to honor their temple whatever that looks like to them and not what they see of me.

7. Balancing life and living a healthy lifestyle and not a diet.

Because I am in the health and fitness field, my passion is to learn.  I am always exploring different aspects of wellness and a healthy lifestyle.  Typically, I am not a trend or fad jumper. I do like to research and try things for myself. Sometimes my children get included in the experiment as well. I am sure they will have plenty to share with their therapist about their Health Nut Mom.  Like the year she went crazy and took away sugar. I will probably still feel Mom guilt.

Living a healthy lifestyle isn’t something that I should feel guilty about, but I do.  I think if I weren’t living a healthy lifestyle I would feel guilty as well. I guess it goes with the Mom territory but if I could instill anything in my daughters: It would be to honor their temple; From top to bottom. Educate yourself, devote to God and Scripture, Feed yourself good food and move your body every day.  As long as they get those foundations, I think all my Fit Mom Guilt was not all in vain.

Do you get Mom Guilt? About what?

Reflection of 2018

Reflection of 2018 and Planning for 2019

The last half of 2018 I have slowly begun to rely on my own strength. This is a common mistake of mine that I start to seek God as a backup plan instead of the action plan.  I have let worry and anxiety drive a wedge between my trust and reliance on God.  Even in choosing my “word” for the year initially, I was motivated by my own motives or at least I thought I was until prayer.  Through prayer and scripture, I uncovered my truth for this year and intention for 2019.

My gaze has turned from 2017 focused on the things above and not of this earth.  In 2017, my word was “Focus and Legacy,” and my Verse was Colossians 3:2. 2017 was a phenomenal year. I was amazed at what I achieved. Honestly, I can say, that I focused on God that year and achieved greatness through Him.  Focusing on God and not the girl next to me allowed me to get things done that year.

Then in 2018, almost as a challenge, I believe. I was led to”Gratitude” for my word.  As anticipated there were many circumstances in 2018 where I could have said, “Why God?’ and chose “I am grateful, Lord.” It took intention, but it was a pruning experience. There were a few setbacks, humbling moments and many opportunities to give up but being grateful for what I had for the moment allowed me to persevere.

Practicing Gratitude

This year I felt like I fell from grace. It wasn’t intentional, but it has been made clear in my reflection and the way I felt the last half of the year.  I had let my need for achievement, success, and accolades over my need for the Truth and the Light.  There were brief periods of anxiety, depression, and loneliness especially at the beginning of the year when I was homebound with my ankle injury.

I felt like the things that I have worked so hard for began to crumble under my own strength. There were lots of setbacks in my life personally. I think the most significant blow was my husband tearing his Achilles at the peak of his busy training season.  We have had several roadblocks this year. We have had to pull back on some things. Change the way we lived for a while because of finances.

Despite my despair, I knew God was with me the entire time. He had never left me but allowed me my own free will to seek Him in all things.  If it weren’t for my desire to serve and be with God, I would never come to this realization. I also probably would have given in to the doubt like in the past.

Instead, I chose to trust in hope and wait in faith. It was also my reminder to be grateful even for a little bit which humbled our family this year.

Bringing it back to Prayer

I preach to honor your temple, but that can only be done and begin with prayer.  When I act first without prayer I always make a mess of things. So, here I am planning another year an in bright, bold neon letters- (God knows that’s the best way to get my attention). He has led me to a new beginning and time to learn from the previous year and set a new intention as I work to the next year.

“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come:[a] The old has gone, the new is here!” 2 Corinthians 5:17

My “Word(s)” for this year.

I founded FaithFueled™ Mom on the foundation of my intent to Glorify God.  Only through Him will it build community and grow but only if I connect with Him.

My three words for this year are “Community, Connection and Growth” initially my sinful nature defined them as,

CONNECTION with others who are on a similar mission to grow MY business.

Build a COMMUNITY of women who glorify God through honoring their temple. (Aka. FaithFueled™ mission statement)

and

GROWTH in all areas of life, finances, relationships, and business.

When God gives you a wake-up Smack

Then (yes afterward) I looked to Scripture to support MY intentions (not God).  Then as if I was smacked in the face

But if serving the Lord seems undesirable to you, then choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your ancestors served beyond the Euphrates or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you are living. But as for me and my household, we will serve the Lord.” Joshua 24:15

That is not what I intended, but without God, my sinful nature took over my second nature. After spending time in the Word. I was set on a better path and given an opportunity to begin the year in the way of my heart’s desire.

My “Word (s)” Redefined

CONNECTION will be through Christ. He will lead me to the people to carry out His plan and not my own.

James 4:8 “Draw near to God and He will draw near to you.  Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and purify your hearts, you double-minded.”

COMMUNITY will continue to be my mission to grow a community of women who are glorifying God through honoring their temple.

“Iron sharpens iron, so one man sharpens another.” Proverbs 27:17

GROWTH spiritually that will trickle into all aspects of my life.

“Therefore, dear friends, since you have been forewarned, be on your guard so that you may not be carried away by the error of the lawless and fall from your secure position. 18 But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and forever! Amen.” 2 Peter 3:17-18

My Word for 2019

I really want to keep it simple this year, so I am going to group these three under CHOSEN. Totally off my initial thought of my word(s) or is it?

One thing that I have felt this year is unqualified and unworthy. I think its time to realize that I am worthy and completely qualified. Only through God because He chose me to live this life.

just as He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we would be holy and blameless before Him. In love He predestined us to adoption as sons and daughters through Jesus Christ to Himself, according to the kind intention of His will to praise the glory of His grace, which He freely bestowed on us in the Beloved.” Ephesians 1:3-6

I have been chosen and this year I want to accept it. I want to connect with the God who chose me, build a community and share with other chosen women and grow and feel qualified through Him and not others opinions.

No longer living in doubt and question of my purpose. I want to walk in my life knowing that I was handpicked by God to bring Him glory.

My Faith fuels me

My intent is not to come across as a Saint because I am not a Saint.  I am a Child of God who was chosen in love to bring glory to His kingdom. I enjoy it; it brings me passion and drive to do what I do and help other people.  When I lose sight of Him, I lose my way, and that’s when I feel anxiety, worry, depression and not my best self.  So, I have to remember what I learned a few years ago and what got me so far. I need to

“Set my mind on the things above and not the things of this world.” Col 3:2

He will give me the clarity to fuel my journey as He has in the past and will do it again an again. Open the doors of opportunity and make the path straight. Whenever in whatever capacity I need.

Instead of “living my best life” I plan on “living the chosen life.”

It may mean a different course of action this year but I know that with God it ultimately, be in my favor, It always is when I seek and trust in Him.

My anticipation for 2019

When it is all said and done even if I don’t make it to a New Year. I want to live every day of 2019 connecting with God and seeking His purpose. Growing my faith and being in a community that is adding women to His kingdom. Living as if I was already chosen by Him to live a life of purpose. What do you think too lofty? You’ll just have to stay tuned and see how He manifest His goodness this year.

” For this very reason, make every effort to add to your faith goodness; and to goodness, knowledge; and to knowledge, self-control; and to self-control, perseverance; and to perseverance, godliness; and to godliness, mutual affection; and to mutual affection, love. For if you possess these qualities in increasing measure, they will keep you from being ineffective and unproductive in your knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.” 2 Peter 1:5-8

If you feel lost in your way seek God for guidance. He will give you direction and peace on your path.  Praying you to have a Happy Healthy New Year.

What did you learn in 2018 that you are going to use in 2019? What is your word?
