Why switching to a Biblical based diet worked for me?

In the last few years, so many things have changed for me inside and out.  My perspective I think has had the greatest change in my life.  I think through my seeking God to help me, trusting in Him and be grateful in the moment has revealed lots.  What I think has become more than just a habit but a lifestyle change for me is eating a Biblical based diet.  Through Bible study and my own, I have researched in the great instruction book for life, the Bible.  Where all questions are answered. So, when people ask what should I be eating, drinking, shaking you can take it back to the Word.  God has something to say on that subject and I promise you Hot Pockets is not on it...

Intermittent Fasting Lowdown

My Full Disclosure Policy

I have confession I haven’t been 100% forthright in my weight loss journey.  For about 10 months I have been intermittent fasting.  When people ask me how I lost 70 lbs I always say it was through Pray, Eat Well and Exercise. It never occurred to me that Intermittent fasting had something to do with it too but looking back it probably has helped me tremendously.  It wasn’t until I was talking to someone about how I intermittent fast and she said, “Well, De that sounds like your secret formula.” I never thought of it like that because at this point it’s second nature I have been doing it for almost a year now.

Intermittent Fasting is an eating pattern that alternates through fasting and feasting periods.  Fasting has been practiced since Biblic...

5 Habits Mom’s do to derail progress

mistake

I made a delicious, nutritious, and fat loss friendly meal for breakfast. Nothing extravagant Apple Chai (Sugar Free) Oatmeal and Hard boiled Eggs.  Something very simple after an intense workout. Ate my serving, that was measured out and a perfect portion, then I did the unthinkable. A habit that I have had since my lil diva’s started eating table food. I am usually mindful but you know how things go, sometimes you slip back into old habits. So, what did I do that is so heinous? As I am clearing the table, I…..yes, I did it. I scarfed down the leftover food from my littlest diva’s plate. (The horror-insert scared emoji here) I went from being completely satisfied with my meal, portion, and calories being in a healthy range...

Make Your Resolution Stick

It’s that time of year! We are resolving of all the things that we want to improve on.  It’s a new year, a new opportunity to be the best you. Unfortunately, according to StatisticBrain in 2015 about 8% of people who made a New Year’s Resolution succeeded.  I used to be against New Year’s Resolution until I thought about it another way. Ordinarily, people wish, want and hope to be the best versions of themselves.  There is one time a year that we are united in our thinking that we need to make a change for the better in our lives and a New Year is a great opportunity to reflect on what that one, two or maybe three things...

What’s the deal with Macro Counting?

Meal Time Monday [Autosaved]

calculating-macros

I have been counting macro’s for a while now about 6 months and it has made a world of difference in my diet.  I also recently just passed my nutrition class at school so that makes me an authority on macro’s, right? Nope, but I am going to let you in on my notes from my personal research.

Macro’s?

According to my textbook Visualizing Nutrition Everyday Choices, macros are “Carbohydrates, lipids (aka fats. Proteins, and water.” I am not including alcohol although it is a macro it is not a nutrient required to live. It does contain calories which is why it is a macro but let’s try to keep it out of our count.  These are all considered macronutrients and what we need in large amounts...

Honor Your Temple Prayer Challenge Day 21

Today’s Prayer: Help me to recognize my needs.

Needs

Sometimes (for me most of the time) we want what is not needed but fulfill a perceived need at the moment.  I know, you know what I am talking about. “You needed that….”

“If I have this it will make this better….” there are so many scenarios, I am sure you understand where I am coming from. We know what are necessities are and what they are not, yet we strive to fulfill the wants in our lives.

We have to accept what God is; our Provider! He is providing all our needs.  He’s even in the business of giving us our wants too but it’s not like Burger King, “Have it your way.” It’s have it His way, the Only way and we all know: the better way.

Psalm 20:4 May he give you the desire of your heart
and make all your plans succeed.

When we’...

Honor Your Temple Prayer Challenge Day 16

Today’s Prayer: Help us not to compare ourselves to others.

It is very clear in the Bible that we should not be comparing ourselves to others but to be focused on Christ.  Paul clearly questions and states to the Galatians,

Galatians 1:10 For am I now seeking the approval of man, or of God? Or am I trying to please man? If I were still trying to please man, I would not be a servant of Christ.

I have a tendency to do this with everything. I like to think its the competitive nature in me but it is my own insecurities. We should be focused on our journey and the direction that we are going and fixing our eyes on Christ. That comparison isn’t an option because we are focused on our won goal.  I hate rubber necking when your driving...

Happy 1 Year Anniversary

1 Year Anniversary.

“A year from now you will wish you had started today.”-Anonymous

It has officially been 365 days! Today, one year ago I woke up, and I had enough! Enough excuses, enough regret, enough neglect, enough believing the lies of the enemy.  I woke up, and I said I must change now! The week before I had dabbled in a fitness routine.  It felt great but today last year I wanted to do more than just dabble. I wanted to commit. I wanted to commit to a healthy lifestyle.  Now, if you have been following me along the last year, you know that this is not my first weight loss journey. So, what was so different this time around? I did it before so what’s the big deal.  All the times before I was seeking weight loss for vanity reasons...

Yep, it’s Insanity?

Workout WednesdayInsanity

Recently I decided to try an Insanity Class. I am sure that you have seen the infomercials. A high-intensity cardio workout that is supposed to get you results. Also, the name alone is something to either be very cautious of or curious. I chose curiously; now I am not a BeachBody representative or distributor. They did not pay me nor do I get any commission from this post but I am exploring different forms of exercise on my weight loss journey and having a lot of fun trying new things. I was invited by a friend of mine to try this class. I went for three reasons:

1) I’ve been in another plateau for the last few months. (So annoying)

2) I was curious I wanted to see why some people just love to put their body through an insane amount of cardio for 45 minutes...
