Devotion and Detox Day 1- Overcome

I NEED THIS NOW!

I need to detox! Not because the nation is getting fit and detoxing. Not because their a special or a tea I really am looking to try but because I am addicted to Sugar.  I know this because as soon as I get a little bit I lose all sense of self control and over indulge every time. I know because when I am looking to mindlessly eat it’s the first thing that is on my mind.  It is also the reason that I am doing a Sugar Detox on January 9th with my FaithFueled Life Women.

NOT MY FIRST RODEO

This will be my third Sugar Detox and this will be the second time I intentionally used prayer to get me through.  I had greater success.  I am also leading this time versus being a participant so that adds a greater motivation to stick it out.  The final reason why I believe this will be successful is that my husband is doing it with me. I am so proud of him because his sugar consumption is out of control to the point where he even realizes its time to take a break.  When I told him I was going to do this but through prayer and devotion he agreed to do it with me. Then I invited the world to join us through Social Media and here we are. About to slay a demon that doesn’t control our life but has an adverse effect on our health.  I don’t think I will be able to be completely without Sugar for the rest of my life but I think taking a 21 day break and then trying to find a healthy balance again wouldn’t be a bad thing.

LETS GET THIS PARTY STARTED

Beginning today, I will be praying my way through Sugar Detox.  If you have ever participated in my prayer challenges you know exactly what you are in for and if you haven’t I would love for you to join us.  I truly believe in the Power of Prayer and I believe “Through Christ who gives me strength I can achieve anything .  I will be giving you daily devotionals to help you with the different phases of detox directly related to the possible symptoms you will experience. I will be offering you recipes for your Sugar Cravings that are sugar free or no sugar added.  I will personally be there encouraging you and walking with you on this detox Journey. So, please join me in conquering your sugar addiction.

DAY 1

Today is the first day of the Sugar Detox and I am very excited to be going on this journey with you.  If you haven’t already please download my E-book to help you get started on your journey.  CONQUER YOUR CRAVINGS Tips & Tricks may have to play catch up with the other ladies in the group but we are here for accountability you can go at your own pace. Praying your way through.

Prayer: Lord, help me to overcome my sugar addiction.

1 Corinthians 10:13-14  No temptation has overtaken you but such as is common to man; and God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with temptation will provide the way of escape also so that you will be able to endure it. Therefore, my beloved flee from idolatry.

This is something that we can hold on tight too.  Jesus was 100% God and 100% man and he lived, breathed, walked and overcame this earth. By laying our temptations in His hand and leaning on His presence, directions and guidance is what we need to do.  I hate the term “self-help” to me it makes no sense. How are you supposed to help yourself? Isn’t it self that got you where you are? If you were in the middle of a frozen lake how exactly would you self-help.  I feel the same when it comes to things that we are not able to do on our own. We cannot help ourselves. We cannot lean on our own will power and self control to get us through. At least I know I can’t I need Jesus to see me through. So, today, Day 1 which can be hard or easy. It can be overwhelming because of the thought of no sugar in your coffee for the next 21 days is unbearable or that little candy bar you have at 2:30 to get you through the rest of the day is now off limits and the thought of how you’re going to get through the rest of your day is daunting. I have one thing to try that you may not have tried before. Prayer? Pray about it before you leave today, pray about it before lunch when you bless your meal, pray about it when the thoughts won’t go away and see how successful you are on your first day. Give it to the only one who has overtaken all temptation to lead and guide you through. We can do this with Christ, who’s ready?
