Day 8- Say “No”
“It teaches us to say “No” to ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright and godly lives in this present age” Titus 2:12
Intentionally praying my way through this detox got me through this weekend. Typically, the weekend is when I give up on self-control and give in to temptation. I hope you’re finding ease with temptation at this point in the detox. I am praying that the daily devotion has given you the ability to say “no” to ungodliness. Not just for the harmful things that don’t build and support your body but also for other aspects of your life where you are being tempted to do things that are not righteous or of God. I find that when we are strengthening ourselves in one area, it can be hard to have strength in all areas. That is why it is critical that we walk alongside God in times where we are to say “no” to worldly passions.
For to this you have been called, because Christ also suffered for you, leaving you an example, so that you might follow in his steps. 1 Peter 2:21
Walking with Christ can be hard when you try to have a one sided relationship. As we have been discussing the last few days. We must Call on God, persevere and simply say “no.” In that order. In all things, we must call on God first and not afterward when we’ve already put ourselves in the situation we can’t handle. Call on God to go before that situations and ease our path, give us direction and then lead us down to where we need to go. Taking a proactive approach will help us to say “no’, control temptation and show God’s deliverance to help us live an upright and righteous life.
How are you doing so far for this challenge? Are you finding it easier or harder to say “no”?
