Do you have your “hallelujah” verse, that verse that jumps off the page and smacks you in the face? The verse that every time you look at it God speaks something different but equally important to you? I like to think out of all the verses in the Bible there are a few that are little love notes from our Father. They all mean something different to someone. Well Romans 12:1 is a verse that stands out to me and gave me the call to show others to honor their temple.
Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, given God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship. Romans 12:1
A few things popped off the pages when I read this verse. The first thing was Urge- (Which according to Webster means to ask people to do or support (something) in a way that shows that you believe it is critical )
It also says in the New American Standard Bible Brothers AND Sisters meaning no one is excluded from this request and living sacrifice stood out in big bold.
The reason people don’t want to get up and move is that of convenience, but this is a living sacrifice we must do every day. We must sacrifice being comfortable for 21 days for reduced dependency on sugar for a lifetime of worship and longevity.
He only ask things of us that He knows we can do and we should do. I like how it ends with this is your TRUE and proper worship. There are so many ways that Christians tell Christians they should worship, but I haven’t heard a loud resonating message that we should offer our bodies as a living sacrifice and not only financially, mentally, relationally sacrifice to God but physically as well.
What is a verse that has called out to you lately?
