Honor Your Temple Prayer Challenge Day 21

Today’s Prayer: Help me to recognize my needs.

Sometimes (for me most of the time) we want what is not needed but fulfill a perceived need at the moment.  I know, you know what I am talking about. “You needed that….”

“If I have this it will make this better….” there are so many scenarios, I am sure you understand where I am coming from. We know what are necessities are and what they are not, yet we strive to fulfill the wants in our lives.

We have to accept what God is; our Provider! He is providing all our needs.  He’s even in the business of giving us our wants too but it’s not like Burger King, “Have it your way.” It’s have it His way, the Only way and we all know: the better way.

Psalm 20:4 May he give you the desire of your heart
and make all your plans succeed.

When we’...

Honor Your Temple Prayer Challenge Day 20

My family devotes’s every morning for 10 minutes to devotion together.  We are walking through the Bible from beginning to end, day by day, as long as it takes. Every morning my family prays that we can learn, retain the day’s devotion and be a light to other’s to lead them to God. We don’t have to be the direct link but a link in the chain. We are here to lead others toward God and spread the gospel of Jesus.

In August 2015, I decided that I needed to take an active approach to my weight loss.  I wanted to be a voice for other women who are struggling. It is very motivating to see someone after the weight loss because you know it can be done. But, there is something for watching the journey before and after and with God’s direction I set out to  publicly lose weight faithfully.

In Sep...

Day 19

2 Corinthians 12:9 But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.”Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me

Today’s Prayer:  Help me to give myself grace during setbacks or mistakes.

We can show other’s grace, not always, but we cannot give ourselves the same. Setbacks are going to happen we will fall from grace, but God forgives us for much more than having a cookie or skipping a workout. We should do the same. According to the word, we should boast about it.  When we boast about our weakness we can show the power of God.

I was reading Nehemiah 9, and the Israelites were confessing their sins to God...

Exodus 20:3-6 “You shall have no other gods before me. “You shall not make for yourself a carved image, or any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth. You shall not bow down to them or serve them, for I the Lord your God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers on the children to the third and the fourth generation of those who hate me, but showing steadfast love to thousands of those who love me and keep my commandments.

Today’s prayer: Help me not to idolize my health and to find balance.

I am an all or nothing kind of girl. I don’t half step things I usually dedicate my all to things or don’t do it all. So, when I am focused on something I find it very hard to have balance...

Today’s Prayer: Help me to find my triggers and over come them.

Joshua 1:9  Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.”

Are there certain situations that make you uncomfortable, that once you experience them, you reach for that coping mechanism that you are working on changing? I know after a long day with three little diva’s a cookie, cupcake, piece of pie and a glass of wine is a welcomed treat.  Instead of going to my old faithful I have found other things to come over.  To the point that I have been known to keep a bottle of wine in the fridge for months (I know way too long) untouched. I know longer need it to comfort me...

Today’s Prayer: Help us not to compare ourselves to others.

It is very clear in the Bible that we should not be comparing ourselves to others but to be focused on Christ.  Paul clearly questions and states to the Galatians,

Galatians 1:10 For am I now seeking the approval of man, or of God? Or am I trying to please man? If I were still trying to please man, I would not be a servant of Christ.

I have a tendency to do this with everything. I like to think its the competitive nature in me but it is my own insecurities. We should be focused on our journey and the direction that we are going and fixing our eyes on Christ. That comparison isn’t an option because we are focused on our won goal.  I hate rubber necking when your driving...

Today’s Prayer: Give us joy during the process.

James 1:2-3  Consider it pure joy, my brothers, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith develops perseverance.

This journey is not supposed to be frustrating it is supposed to be a challenge. A challenge can be considered something good, something that puts you outside of your comfort zone and allows you to see what you are made of. The best thing about this journey is you have chosen not to go it alone but to do it with Christ. Prayerfully, taking each step towards a goal of an improved life for yourself.

Today, is the half way point of our prayer challenge...

Day 14

Today’s Prayer: Help me to see myself as God sees me.

Why is it so common for us to doubt God’s love for us? To think that our worth is less than anyone else’, it is simple that is what the world wants us to believe. That we are not good enough because we aren’t a certain size, income class, education level. That we don’t measure up because we don’t have a particular car, house, go on vacations to exotic places. When it comes to our temple, the standards to which we measure ourselves are absurd.  He had loved us before we were even born and made us each special and unique.

Psalm 139:14 I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful,I know that full well.

God sees us as we truly are, His perfect creations tainted by sin and loved immeasurably...

Day 13

Today’s Prayer: Help me to have only an appetite and love for the food God prefers me to eat.

Genesis 9:3 Every moving thing that lives shall be food for you. And as I gave you the green plants, I give you everything.

We all have our vices, weakness when it comes to food and the food that we (Americans’) have to eat has been tainted from its origins as God created and intended it to be. It is to provide us nourishment and fuel our body so that it may function at optimal performance. This is no longer the case, and some of the things that we consume can be abusive to our bodies or cause it not to function well. In today’s prayer, let us turn to God to guide us on what we should and shouldn’t eat...

Day 12

Today’s Prayer: Give me healthy alternatives to deal with stress.

I have come a long way in my stress management. I have quit smoking, nail biting, obsessive compulsive cleaning and now my newest addiction sugar. I have overcome the battle of the “Sugar Demon” which is just as hard as any other addiction. Not sure if you know that the addiction to sugar addiction can be as addictive as cocaine. An actual chemical addiction anything in excess is harmful to our temple our body that you have to detox.

Stress also cause hormonal changes and imbalances that cause adverse effects on our body. There has to be a better way to deal than putting things in our bodies to harm it or doing things that we shouldn’t. We always have God, the conqueror of the impossible and the healers of all...
