Living the GF Life


Okay, guys! I may be going all into living this gluten free life.  Seven months ago I was tested for my allergies and among the seasonal allergies that I already knew of wheat and peas was one of the allergic reactions I had.  When I was in my teens, I had an allergy test with the same results but didn’t think anything of it. When I was 16, I didn’t care about my allergies and until that day didn’t realize the effect of ignoring my allergy had on my body.  I used to say regularly, “My stomach hates me,” after every meal.  I would get horrible headaches, itchy scratchy throat, constant post nasal drip always clearing my throat.  I always associated the throat and nasal to my known indoor/outdoor allergies.  I never thought it could be from the things I was eating...

Today’s Prayer: Help keep me balanced as I continue this journey.

We made it!!! 30 days of honoring our temple through prayer. There have been hi’s and lo’s (at least for me there has) but overall I feel that I have created a stronger relationship with God that will only continue to grow from here. I have learned where my strengths lie and His never ends. I have never felt so good mentally, spiritually, and physically. It’s been an amazing experience. I am so grateful for all the messages, emails and all those who supported me and held me accountable on this journey.

Half way through and after praying for 29 days I can honestly say this challenge have changed from my own desires to wanting to honor God and His desires for me. Isaiah 40:31 But those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.

Today’s Prayer: Help me to renew our strength in you everyday.

This verse is one of my favorites.  I have used it in so many different circumstances but it holds true in ant and all. Especially, with honoring my temple. This month there has been constant temptation weddings,birthday parties,mom’s night out,  women bible studies but through His renewed strength everyday I have made it through.

This challenge and month is almost over. I wouldn’t have gotten through without the daily renewal of strength through prayer. I have made a complete lifestyle change that won’t last without continued strength from God.

Today’ prayer: Help us to want more of you Lord.

Psalm 63: 1 O God, thou art my God; early will I seek thee: my soul thirsteth for thee, my flesh longeth for thee in a dry and thirsty land, where no water is;

Our relationship with God is dependent on what we put into it. He has already come 90% it’s up to us to come the other 10%; He doesn’t require much. When I started devoting time to the Lord every day, it changed me in so many ways. I went from needing God in my life to wanting Him, craving time with Him every day. Like a first love talking on the phone, I can easily get lost talking to God for hours about everything, including my health. Put some time into your relationship with God, give Him your all, make Him priority in your life and crave Him.

Day 26

Today’s Prayer: Help me to give God control.

I am not sure what is about me, but I am admittedly a control freak. I am certain some deep rooted issues of being an army brat, product of a divorce and blended family but control is very comforting. When I recommitted myself to the Lord, all that control that I felt safe with was tested and challenged. It wasn’t until I realized I am not in control at all, God just lets me think I am. God is in control! I must stop trying to do it myself. Funny thing is, the only way for me to relinquish control is to pray to God to help me relinquish control. And I have to say giving up control to God is probably the most comforting thing that I have ever done.

Today’s Prayer: Help us to remember God’s promises, always.

What do God’s promises have to do with honoring our temple? Everything! Without our bodies working at optimal performance, it just adds another barrier to spreading God’s word. What are God’s promises? There not necessarily on a checklist for us to go down and say, “Yep, he’s done what He said, He’s done this and that and this.” Nope, you have to read His word and learn of all the things that God has promised to do for us, although, He has done so much already...

Day 24

Today’s Prayer: Give me refuge in God’s goodness.

God is good at the right times, unclear times, and even the hard times but all the time God is good. We must learn to rely on God and His goodness.  He loves us unconditionally and blesses us unconditionally.  He invites us to live in Him completely wrapped up in Him surrounded my His grace and goodness.  But we must consistently yield and seek refuge in Him for our lives to take the order and make sense.  Seeking refuge in Him requires us to be faithful and humble.  We need to trust that He is always conspiring for us, and He knows far more than we ever will.  I think by humbling ourselves to these truths we can be lifted up in Christ and releasing control to Him will allow things to be done for our good.

Today’s prayer: Remembers God’s Love.

Ephesians 5:29 For no one ever hated his own flesh, but nourishes and cherishes it, just as Christ does the church,

When I am asked who do I love? I can list off my husband, my children, my mom, my grandparents and so on. I never start with myself. Not that I don’t love myself. I am on that list somewhere, probably closer to the bottom, at least I was. The more that I go on this journey, the more I explore my inner temple I realize that I need to love myself more.

One day it occurred to me I need to love myself as God loves me like God wants us to love others. We wouldn’t be able to experience this life if it wasn’t for God’s love and sacrifice for us. God loves and accepts us the way we are, but He loves us too much to let us stay this way.
