What’s the deal with Macro Counting?

Meal Time Monday [Autosaved]

calculating-macros

I have been counting macro’s for a while now about 6 months and it has made a world of difference in my diet.  I also recently just passed my nutrition class at school so that makes me an authority on macro’s, right? Nope, but I am going to let you in on my notes from my personal research.

Macro’s?

According to my textbook Visualizing Nutrition Everyday Choices, macros are “Carbohydrates, lipids (aka fats. Proteins, and water.” I am not including alcohol although it is a macro it is not a nutrient required to live. It does contain calories which is why it is a macro but let’s try to keep it out of our count.  These are all considered macronutrients and what we need in large amounts...

FaithFueled Mom in the City

f you follow me on Instagram, you may have seen I was Mom in the City last week. Quickly walking through the busy streets of New York Time Square it was so much fun to be invited to Workout with Nicole Winhoffer and enjoy treats from Pure Protein. When I got the invitation from Pure Protein, I was so excited to be working out with Nicole Winhoffer...

grow-your-blog-hop-fall-2016

This is so cool today is my Spotlight day in the blog hop hosted by Runaway Bridal Planner, so WELCOME WELCOME I am excited that you’re here! I figured since there are so many new people I might as well unfold the master plan that has been brewing in my head for the last six months. Before I go there let me catch a few people up.

Let Me Introduce Myself

My name is De Bolton and haphazardly am now a faith-based fitness blogger sharing my love of faith, family, fitness and food. I started out as a mommy blogger, and I was going to drop some knowledge on the world through my little platform. After being picked up by a corporate sponsor in my first four months, I got the bug and began pursuing the world of blogging.

Meanwhile, I had some other things going on...

Food & Mood: Healing the Whole Person- Mind, Body, & Spirit

faithfueledfeatureguestblogger

Recently, on Social Media I have been open with my battle of anxiety and depression and how living a healthier lifestyle has helped me.  I reached out to a long time friend Dr.Angela Clack to get her expert opinion on the effects of food and nutrition on mental health. I am honored that Dr. Clack would share with me and my readers.  Some great info here so take notes:

It all starts with your mindset

Five years ago I lost 50lbs with fitness, nutrition, and accountability (a great nutritionist, professional accountability to hold my feet to the fire if I messed up) and I loved the results. However, because I made my goal a number on the scale and a clothing size instead of a commitment to a lifestyle change- the weight slowly crept back...

Happy 1 Year Anniversary

1 Year Anniversary.

“A year from now you will wish you had started today.”-Anonymous

It has officially been 365 days! Today, one year ago I woke up, and I had enough! Enough excuses, enough regret, enough neglect, enough believing the lies of the enemy.  I woke up, and I said I must change now! The week before I had dabbled in a fitness routine.  It felt great but today last year I wanted to do more than just dabble. I wanted to commit. I wanted to commit to a healthy lifestyle.  Now, if you have been following me along the last year, you know that this is not my first weight loss journey. So, what was so different this time around? I did it before so what’s the big deal.  All the times before I was seeking weight loss for vanity reasons...

Honoring Your Temple is Not Just about Weight Loss

In my opinion honoring your temple is not just about weight loss, eating right and exercise. It is about taking care of the body God gave you spiritually, mentally and physically. It has come to my attention that I have been misrepresenting myself. I have showcased the physical worship of God and not the mental and spiritual. Partially because I’ve been on a weight loss journey; I am passionate about healthy, and fitness, and I have been sharing my journey on social media and through this blog. I have not been so public about the personal journey that I have been on in the last few years...

Finding My People-Idea World BlogFest Recap

IdeaWorldBlogfest

Idea World Blogfest 2016

I attended Idea World Blogfest with Sweat Pink

Last week, I went to a magical place, far far away called Los Angeles, and I entered into the world known as IDEA.  It was such an amazing experience, and I was blessed to been able to attend it.  I went to the IdeaWorld BlogFest Convention welcomed with open arms.  I got to hang, learn and be around my people. Over 14,000 Fitness Professionals from 54 Countries attended and the entire week was buzzing with health, nutrition, fitness and wellness. It was everything that I expected!

Exactly what I didn’t expect

I expected to be educated about blogging. Suspected that I would meet a few women that I connected with and were nice.  Intended on eating every day I was there...

What About Me (time)?

FaithFueled Friday

1 Timothy 4:8
For while bodily training is of some value, godliness is of value in every way, as it holds promise for the present life and also for the life to come.

As a Mom of three little diva’s (Divine, Inspirational, Virtuous, Anointed). I find that daily “Me” time with the Lord is essential to raising them, but short little momcation is a bonus. I used to fill every aspect of the day to managing my household. My only break would be a few necessary bathroom breaks, a quick shower or maybe five hours of sleep that I would get each night. That would leave me spent, stressed, resentful and often a “not nice” mommy often.

Mommy time

My middle daughter often says “What-about-me;” it’s one word for her...

Get Brycked Up!

BryckedFitness

I must get B.R.Y.C.K.E.D again!

I got B.R.Y.C.K.E.D Up, and I want to do it again and again. Two weeks ago, I was able to participate in something so fun, intense and different.  It was an hour and 20 minutes of pure sweat, laughs, smiles and hardcore non-stop workout.  I got B.R.Y.C.K.E.D Up, and I am now hooked.  I was invited by a friend to try a new workout; Of course, I was gamed!  When I got there, it was instantly enticing.  It was like stepping into a club there were Black Light, Strobe, Disco Ball, Carribean, Latin, Hip Hop music and sensory overload!  After the 2 minute warm up I was drenched in sweat and Tru Adams, the creator of Brycked Fitness was like, “Now let’s get started.” It was on an popping from that point forward.

What is B.R.Y.C.K.E.D Fitness?

In my opinion,...

Pound it!

Pound Fitness

The last few weeks have been an adventure in fitness. I have been trying out some cool classes like Insanity, Kangoo, themed runs, and Pound! Have you ever Pounded or also known as Rip Stix? It’s  interesting class it’s full cardio movement and drumming class.  You use weighted drumsticks and concentrate on different areas as you drum to the beat.  Keeping up with the rhythm and drumming almost distracts you from the pain in your quads from the 50 consecutive body weight squats you just completed in 1 minute.  I would describe Pound as a cardio workout that combines Pilates, isometric poses and plyometrics.  I attended a class at The Riverton Health and Fitness Center. The class I took was 30 minutes, and it was all I needed to do.
