Detox after Easter

How I detox

My favorite way to detox is to eat. I never knew that you could detox by just using what God has given us. I always thought you had to take a supplement or a special tea/ It never occurred to me that God created foods that do even better than those magic solutions. There are a few things that you can detox and vegetable infused water may not exactly get it done. It’s nice to add different flavors to your water especially if you’re consuming half your body weight in water a day. But it’s not going to be solely responsible for cleansing your body. You’re not receiving all the nutrients of those water and vegetable combinations through infusion. Water is the best way to detox but there is also veggies and fruits.

Cruciferous veggies which are members of the cabbage family...

Effective Resistance Training

somasoleworkout-wednesday

affiliate-disclosure

The flexibility of our schedule in the summer allowed me to go to the gym early in the morning. Now that school has started I have found it much harder to get up for those now even earlier morning AM workouts. I have to get back to a better sleep routine. So, I have disrupted my whole workout routine. It’s only been one full week, so it occurred to me the other day that I have all the essentials to get incredible at home workout. I started this journey working out at home, but I have added some new tools to my arsenal.

At Home, Workouts are the Best!

I forgot how much I love at home workouts. I don’t have to wait my turn, and I don’t have to wear headphones, leave the house, and find a sitter...

Still on a mission

If you have been following my weight loss you know a few things about me. First, this is not my first time at the rodeo this is time number 3 for me battling the bulge. Second, I gained an obscene amount of weight with each of my precious little diva’s. Diva 1: 95 pounds, Diva 2: 85 pounds, and Diva 3: (which was actually 3 & 4) 75 pounds.  So, to say that I still have a long journey ahead is an understatement. What makes matter worse is after I came home with Diva #3 I gained another 20 pounds totaling 95 pounds to lose. Yes, people I have to lose a 12 year old off of my soon to be little 5′ 3″ body. I will lose it! Unfortunately, not overnight or in the same amount of time (9 months) that it took me to gain it...

What’s next?

Have you ever looked back at where you’ve been and it all of a sudden make sense? That’s has been the last few months for me.  A few years ago, I was lost (Spiritually and Mentally), depressed, anxious, creeping up the scale and desperate for a way out.  It wasn’t until I completely surrendered all aspects of my life and sought God’s counsel that I found a direction to take.  Then a year ago almost to the day I had a “God idea.” I was scrolling through Facebook and an add for my current college popped up. I never thought of going back to school but as if I was forcefully pushed I pressed “Send me more info.” Within minutes I got a phone call that has literally changed this lost girl to having a clear vision that gets even more high definition by the day...

Workout Safety: The Importance of Warm Up and Cool Down

I never realized knew the difference and the benefits of a warm up and cooled down until I began school. All of my fitness has been Beach Body or Online Trainers. Unfortunately, I was never encouraged to do a Warm-Up or Cool Down nor do they usually program them in. That is why so many people are getting injured working out at home.

Just because you don’t have a treadmill at home doesn’t mean you shouldn’t warm-up. Despite if your workout has a warm-up programmed in I would encourage you to Warm-Up and Cool Down on your own. Unfortunately, a lot of online trainers are either not certified at all, expired certification or no continuing credits. It is critical that you do your due diligience when working with one and check their credentials for your personal safety...

Are your working out dehydrated?

I received the Brita Stream Rapids Water Filtration for free from Influenster in exchange for a Review.  The fact that I received this for free does not effect my opinion. My Full Disclosure Policy

Are you working out dehydrated and don’t even know it? If you are a sedentary person according to National Academy of Sports Medicine, you men need 3 Liters a day and women need 2.2 Liters a day. If you are trying to lose weight, you should drink 8 ounces of water for every 25 pounds that you are overweight which is a little over 3 ounces for every 3 lbs of extra weight you carry. Is that a gallon? Nope and lots of people are over consuming water with the gallon mentality...

Intermittent Fasting Lowdown

My Full Disclosure Policy

I have confession I haven’t been 100% forthright in my weight loss journey.  For about 10 months I have been intermittent fasting.  When people ask me how I lost 70 lbs I always say it was through Pray, Eat Well and Exercise. It never occurred to me that Intermittent fasting had something to do with it too but looking back it probably has helped me tremendously.  It wasn’t until I was talking to someone about how I intermittent fast and she said, “Well, De that sounds like your secret formula.” I never thought of it like that because at this point it’s second nature I have been doing it for almost a year now.

Intermittent Fasting is an eating pattern that alternates through fasting and feasting periods.  Fasting has been practiced since Biblic...

How my family went clean

It was like I was in a Movie….

The most amazing thing happened the other night at dinner my kids fought over the last brussel sprout did you read that correctly my kids fought over the last brussels sprout. Two years ago that would have never been the case. After a long road, my girls try new things every other week willingly. They look forward to baking new goodies to try and have mostly adopted a healthy lifestyle. Don’t get me wrong they’ll still welcome without hesitation a Happy Meal but from a recovering drive thru junkie family. Always driving around. Going places and never enjoying what was in front of them.

Got to make some changes….

About two and a half years ago I decided to try to change our processed food lifestyle into a “clean eats” lifestyle...

5 Habits Mom’s do to derail progress

mistake

I made a delicious, nutritious, and fat loss friendly meal for breakfast. Nothing extravagant Apple Chai (Sugar Free) Oatmeal and Hard boiled Eggs.  Something very simple after an intense workout. Ate my serving, that was measured out and a perfect portion, then I did the unthinkable. A habit that I have had since my lil diva’s started eating table food. I am usually mindful but you know how things go, sometimes you slip back into old habits. So, what did I do that is so heinous? As I am clearing the table, I…..yes, I did it. I scarfed down the leftover food from my littlest diva’s plate. (The horror-insert scared emoji here) I went from being completely satisfied with my meal, portion, and calories being in a healthy range...
