Marriage Prayer Challenge Day 1

Periscope is a new social media platform that is powered by Twitter. An amazing group that glorifies God and Sisterhood is the #PeriSistersInChrist. For the month of August they are have challenged us to pray for our husbands for the next 30 Days. I didn’t quite make it through the entire month of August; UPDATE 10/10/15 Here I am again praying for my marriage. It couldn’t hurt right, I am so blessed to have married my best friend but like in anything that I do I want to be really good at it. Last month, I honored my temple through prayer and it helped my relationship with God, fitness and food so I decided to take on this challenge again. Please join me!

Raised in the Church not Christ

Church Rules

Colossians 2:20-23 (NIV) 20 Since you died with Christ to the elemental spiritual forces of this world, why, as though you still belonged to the world, do you submit to its rules:21“Do not handle! Do not taste! Do not touch!”?22 These rules, which have to do with things that are all destined to perish with use, are based on merely human commands and teachings.23 Such regulations indeed have an appearance of wisdom, with their self-imposed worship, their false humility and their harsh treatment of the body, but they lack any value in restraining sensual indulgence.

Raised in the Church

The legalistic church I grew up in focused on rules; You had to do this, dress like this, eat this, say this to get into the kingdom of heaven...

Journey Girls Anniversary

disclosure

Today, I got to do something I rarely get to do. Enjoy the company of my middle daughter by herself while traveling with the Journey Girls to Italy.  Celebrating the Journey Girls 5 year anniversary in true Italian style.  Tasting some Italian delicacies and desserts.

Journey Girl 5 year Anniversary

Packing for our trip with the latest doll fashions designed by Jenny. Who helped us change the girls outfits. I have to say the journey girls wardrobe is chic and cute doll clothes. I also love the price point of the doll considering the quality of there hair and eyes.

The event was memorable for my seven year old as she decorated luggage tags, made cannoli’s and took commemorative pictures with Tap n Snap green screen.

Modesty doesn’t define faith

picture-2

“You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled underfoot.” Matthew 5:13

This is typically not the Bible verse used when discussing the way Christian women should dress. I think that since we are representing ourselves within society that it could appropriately be considered as part of what God calls us to do. He appointed us to be the means of preventing or curing the growth of that corruption which prevails in the world, and of seasoning people’s minds with wisdom and grace.* Typically, when discussing the way women should dress;
1 Timothy 2:9-10 (NIV) I also want the women to dress modestly, with decency and propriety, adorning themselves, not with elaborate...

My Need for Discernment

This Or That Way Directions On A Wooden SignpostAccording to the dictionary, discernment means “the quality of being able to grasp or comprehend what is obscure.” This is not a strong trait of mine.  That saying, “can’t you just take a hint?” NO! I am very black and white; concrete thinker. When it comes to picking up on clues that’s what I need God for.  I have to pray everyday for his help in this department, sometimes several times a day depending on the day that I am having.

Now we (and I am referring to saved Christians) know God leads we follow, whether we actually follow that is another blog post.  Some of us stumble along and others confidently go on our way.  He opens doors we graciously or reluctantly walk or bump into them. I wish there was always a clear cut path to take.  I struggle with this in parenting too...

Father’s Day Gift Dilemma

In my house of 3 little diva’s I have to say that my husband is pretty much the king. He has three little daddy’s girls and I am pretty fond of him myself. This week of father’s day and with the chaos of end of school, baby’s first birthday party planning, garden harvesting and of course the everyday task of maintaining my household. I am at a Father’s day gift dilemma. I usually plan a little something and I have gotten his Father’s Day card while I was out and about; but I like to give meaningful memorable gifts to my husband.

He is an amazing father and for not having any guidance from his own he is simply a natural. Raising a tween, 7 year old and baby girl is a hard task and his infinite patience and attention to detail...
